Nine Day Block Island Cruise June 29 – July 8. Updated!
We are planning a 9-day (or more!) cruise to Block Island starting Friday June 29 thru Sunday July 8. We have changed our plan for this trip to head directly to Newport, RI for the America’s Cup Racing Finals. The AC World Series running from Tuesday, June 26 through Sunday, July 1. The series will climax on the final Sunday (July 1), when both the event and season champion will be crowned. The final race day will air live, nationwide, on NBC. Who knows when the America’s Cup Racing will be held in the United States so come along for what could be a once in a lifetime experience.
So far we have three sailboats coming along on this cruise. Two sailboats from the City Island Yacht Club and one sailboat from the Morris Yacht Club.
Since we are heading out directly to Newport, R.I. for the Racing we will depart Monday after the races for places like Cuttyhunk, Martha’s Vineyard, Block Island and make our way west in stops like Fishers’s Island and then either stop along the way on the Connecticut side or the Long Island Side. Our route will be determined by the wind and crew preferences.

There will be weekend cruises also scheduled to locations like Atlantic Highlands – New Jersey, Oyster Bay – Long Island, Huntington Bay/Northport – Long Island, Stamford – Connecticut, etc. Input from all wanting to bring their boat along in our flotilla out of City Island is greatly encouraged.

Labor Day Weekend August 31 – September 3. Leaving on Friday for this one.
Just because Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer there are many good sailing days left in the season and we will be sailing till we can’t sail no more. Just before the end of the season this year I may be sailing my boat down to Washington DC and will be looking for crew. This will be a one way cruise because I am leaving the boat in Virginia to have some work done on it. The Chesapeake area is a great place to find “real boat professionals”.

Hi Joe. I met you at the City Island Yacht Club meet up event. I am interested in the weekend trip you mentioned that night and am planning on taking the intro to sailing course with Seas Bergen. What dates do you have planned for the weekend trips. They give the course in June and July. I am leaning towards June so that I will be ready for one of your weekends..Also is there a number I can reach you at for any questions I may have….thanks….Debra

Hi, I was at the City Island Yacht Club meetup event as well. Do I need to be a member of the City Island Yacht Club to join in a weekend cruise?

Thank you for keeping up with our events on City Island Cruising Our objective is promote cruising and does require you become a member of the City Island Yacht Club. But I can tell you becoming at least a social member of the City island Yacht Club is very beneficial. There are many benefits of being a social member and the cost is minimal.
